How can we get general knowledge from scattered information? How do we find meaning in data? What assumptions lie behind data sets and their presentations? How can we think scientifically?

Hofstra University’s undergraduate Minor in Data Analysis and Scientific Reasoning helps students develop the skills to answer these questions and use the answers productively. It integrates the ideas and tools of philosophy of science, mathematics, and computing. The 18-credit minor program serves both science majors and students in any major wanting to understand data and science.
